This area of the Pacific Ocean, the Barkley Sound on Vancouver Island's West Coast, is one of British Columbia's outstanding fishing grounds, famous for large runs of Chinook Salmon from mid June through September. We offer anglers the opportunity to experience real jaw dropping action, as you reel in these large 'Springs' ranging from 20 to 70 pounds. Coho of size starts in June and is best in July and August. Sockeye arrive in the area during May and work their way into Alberni Inlet by late June. July and August offer some absolutely spectacular salmon fishing! Our Halibut grounds are also well renowned for being some of the best in the world! Lingcod and rockfish can also be excellent, especially on the outside banks (La Perouse Bank).
